Intro
to Zen Workshop--9 am to Noon
The workshop provides an orientation to Zen, sitting and walking meditation,
open dialogue about Zen, and an opportunity to practice the meditation
forms. The format is interactive, with plenty of time for questions.
Good for beginners or for those seeking a refresher. Kosen Osho, our
visiting teacher from the Furnace Mountain Zen Center, will lead this
workshop with CZC volunteers. Suggested donation of $30 ($8 students).
Preregistration required.
One
Day Zen Intensive--10 am to 4 pm
Kosen Osho or Myogetsu Osho leads this 6-hour intensive practice. The
session includes sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, tea
ceremony, and dialogue practice. It is great for those considering or
curious about retreats. Regular Sunday practice will still be held (8:00
- 9:30 am). Suggested donation of $30 ($8 students). Preregistration
required.
Family
& Kids Group
Quarterly outings with activities of interest to children 6-12 years
old and their parents. Please contact Steve Hegge through the CZC for
additional information.
Affiliates
Tour
Scheduled to encourage us to travel between the CZC affiliate groups
to practice together and strengthen Sangha ties. For those interested
in deepening their practice, it encourages sitting consecutive days
for a mini-retreat experience. See the weekly schedule for each group
on the Home page. The "tour" consists of joining each group for their
regular weekly sessions, or as many groups as is possible.
Sunday
Extra
Most months we hold an extra session of practice after a regular Sunday
morning session. We engage in a short work and maintenance period, then
resume chanting and sitting until noon.
Sangha
Meeting
Open meeting for all who wish to attend to discuss updates and planning.
Forms Orientation
Myogetsu Osho is available at 7:30 am to review timekeeper and
chant leader roles for those interested in learning how to lead services
or for those simply with questions about these forms. Monthly with dates
listed on calendar.
Yoga
for Meditators
This 3-week
series is designed to teach proper alignment and a variety of stretches
to help relieve the physical discomfort of sitting for long periods.
Participants should wear clothing suitable for movement and moderate
perspiration. Offered by certified instructor and CZC Abbot Annie Weisbrod.
Suggested donation to CZC of $30 ($10 students).
Tai
Chi Basic Motion Class
Offered by certified instructor Eric Miller, this 4-week series is to
help the participant return to a state of "natural" flexibility--the
flexibility we all enjoyed as children. Through a series of seven exercises
and proper breathing, this class will provide benefits such as greater
range of motion, stress reduction, better balance, and greater focus.
To register, please email ericmiller723@yahoo.com . Donations to the
CZC are encouraged.
Discussion
Group
Occasional Sundays--see Calendar. Everyone is welcome. The informal
group is discussing Zen Master Seung Sahn's book Compass of Zen.
Informal
Discussion and Q&A
On most Sundays after practice, there is time for anyone interested
to discuss Zen with fellow students. Discussions are usually facilitated
by senior CZC students.
